MembershipLacquer in the Americas
On 13 and 14 April 2023, the V & A will be hosting Lacquer in the Americas, a ground-breaking conference devoted to Indigenous American lacquers. The conference will bring together the international community working on these amazing materials: speakers hail from South America, the US and Europe, and will share information on the conservation, scientific analysis, historical and art historical context and development of barniz de Pasto, Mexican lacquers and Amazonian coatings. We aim to have presentations available in both English and Spanish, as well as artisans demonstrating materials and techniques.
The conference will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
